Intermediate Guitar Licks for KS3/4

These licks are suitable for intermediate players of both electric or acoustic guitar, ranging from lower Grade 3 up to around Grade 5 standard.

Most of them use the G minor pentatonic or Gm Blues scales, with a few that are marked as A minor. They have a variety of legato/staccato techniques specific to the instrument, such as bends, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, vibrato etc. These are indicated at the start of the videos.

There are extended backing tracks at the end of each video where students can repeat or develop what they have just learned, offering the added opportunity for improvisation. This will improve some of their composition skills going forward, and the phrases and techniques are suitable for many different genres of music.
