You will find a drop down list of graded video material on this page to be used to practise your scales, arpeggios etc.

The videos below are the scales and arpeggios for Grade 4 Guitar.

DONT FORGET: You need to practise each one starting from all of these notes on the bottom E string for the exam:   A, B, C and D

So for example, to play the scale in the first video below (Cm Pentatonic) in B, simply start the whole fingering pattern from the fret below, or to play it in D, start 2 frets higher than C.

Enjoy, and remember that playing these scales well, is not only to get you through your exam, it's going to make you a better Guitarist, which is the real reason you should be practising them.... Use the Metronome Practice Track below!

If you want to slow the tempo, open the video in VLC Media Player (see our IT and useful software page for  more details and link to download)

In looking at the video below (A major position 2) you should also know the fingering pattern for "position 1".

Go to the Grade 5 page and look at the scale: "G major position 1". If you move your hand up two frets to start on the 5th fret, that will give you "A major position 1". Starting at the 7th fret would give you B major position 1 etc. Any problems - just ask your teacher...
