When you’ve tried all of these, don’t play them for a day or two then try them again in a different order – remember you’re not trying to learn them you’re trying to play by ear!
Below are a series of audio tracks to practise with. Each one has a video below it. They play in the same way as you will hear them when you take your exam: played twice followed by a gap (around 20 seconds) for you practise, then a spoken count in to the drumbeat backing track which you will play over.
Remember it’s a G minor pentatonic scale (you should know this!). The first note is G (3rd fret) and the next note will be higher. Watch out for the rests (pauses) - make sure you mute the strings.
If you don’t get it first time, have another couple of tries BEFORE you play the video below which shows you the fingering.
